How do I become a guest at the Peer Respite?

To become a guest at FolkTime Peer Respite, you must first complete a Pathway Conversation—a one-on-one discussion to learn what the respite offers and decide if it’s right for you. Please reach out via email or a phone call to schedule this conversation. Once completed, you’ll be eligible to stay when a room becomes available. When a space opens, we notify eligible individuals, and if they are experiencing a crisis, they can submit a short form to express interest. Our team reviews submissions together and contacts the person selected for the open spot.

How many spaces are available in the Peer Respite Program?

Answer: FolkTime is delighted to offer 5 spaces in the program. While we maintain a waiting list, we ensure continuous support for individuals while waiting for a spot. This includes peer support and exploring other options that may be available. For those in crisis, we encourage reaching out to the Oregon Warmline at 1-800-698-2392 for assistance and support.

What should I bring?

Answer: FolkTime recommends bringing one or two small bags to ensure we make the most of our cozy space. To keep our space bedbug free, we ask that guests’ clothes and the bag they are brought in go through the dryer on high heat for 40 minutes. A cloth duffle bag works great!

We provide a free washer and dryer for you to use. Don't forget your toiletries and medications! Each guest will have a small lockbox to secure their necessities. Please avoid bringing large furniture or fixtures, and we don't recommend bringing valuables. We want you to feel comfortable, but there's no need to bring everything you own. FolkTime also keeps some necessities on hand in case you forget anything.

Can I bring my own bedding or pillows for added comfort during my stay?

Answer: While FolkTime provides basic bedding and pillows, guests are welcome to bring personal items for added comfort if desired. We will again request that they are first put through the dryer at the respite for 40 minutes when you arrive.

Answer: Guests are welcome to bring electronic devices. However, usage guidelines within the center, such as in common areas or private rooms, may be in place to ensure a comfortable and inclusive environment for everyone.

Staff members are trained to facilitate positive resolutions, promoting a supportive and harmonious atmosphere.  FolkTime provides our grievance process to all guests at the beginning of their stay which includes the steps and philosophy for disagreements.
