Peer Support Specialist
Katie began working as a peer support specialist in February of 2016, advocating for and working with folks with complex needs and situations. After experiencing many bouts of housing insecurity and homelessness, Katie enjoys sharing Portland-area resources on housing for those with disabilities and/or living on a low income. She believes strongly that housing stability, food security, and health insurance coverage are vital keys to mental and emotional wellness, and as such she loves to connect others to these resources. After several years of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Katie finds that daily practice of DBT tenets along with medication has allowed her to live in happiness and serenity, in recovery from the symptoms of mental illness.
