Dawn’s most extensive experience in peer support has been through horticultural therapy. Their own experience growing up food insecure and in poverty led to a questioning of the systems of injustice that create dis-ease, and a deeper understanding of the many social determinants of health that can lead to crisis. The times where Dawn has been in crisis have found to be epiphany moments, where new levels of self-realization and connection to others was the result. It was because of receiving help from peers and mentors that this was possible. Dawn hopes be able to contribute to the well-being of others by supporting them during life-changing moments.
