Since grade school, I’ve experienced Trauma and the loss of loved ones. Because of this, I began feeling withdrawn, abandoned, exasperated, and hopeless over the course of many years. I reached a breaking point a few years ago. I was no longer self-medicating and I had to obtain tools to help me help myself one day at a time. On my journey, I was fortunate to meet a great team (Therapist, Psychiatrist). After listening to my story, the team thought it would be a great idea to become a Peer Support Specialist. I worked hard to get my Peer Wellness Specialist certification and it was a life changing experience for me, in the most positive way. Folktime has given me an opportunity to reach new heights and understanding on what it means to be a Peer.
